Looking for a new central heating system? Before you commit to this major purchase you need to evaluate the options open to you. You need to make sure you find the right product, installed by the right central heating installer at a price that’s right for you.
A new central heating system will not only enhance the atmosphere of your home, providing you with controllable heating and hot water, but it will also lower your heating bills and reduce your carbon footprint. New boilers are incredibly efficient and according to the Energy Saving Trust (a UK Government appointed body) your central heating boiler should be replaced every fifteen years on efficiency grounds alone. Just make sure you opt for an “A” rated boiler which will offer the highest efficiency level.
Affordability
Installing new central heating is a major financial investment. However, if you are concerned about the affordability there may be options available to you that will help with the cost.
Government Warm Front Scheme
The Warm Front scheme provides incentives up to the value of £3500 which can be put towards new home heating and insulation. So far the scheme has helped over 2 million households towards the cost of new home central heating or replacement boilers. Homeowners, landlords and tenants may all be eligible for the scheme. If you want to apply to benefit from the scheme you can call the Warm Front team on 0800 316 2805.
Supplier Deals
Some of the leading central heating suppliers and boiler manufacturers offer deals and incentives to help you fund the cost of the purchase and installation. Many now offer part exchange deals on boilers no matter how old your existing boiler is. Do not opt for the first supplier you find; shop around to make sure you will get the very best price. And don’t forget that some of the biggest names will offer interest free credit which allows you to spread the cost of the system over a number of years.
Choosing the right boiler for your home
Recent government legislation means that all new heating boilers must be highly efficient condensing models. This is the most efficient type of boiler available; a condensing boiler can convert 90% of the fuel used into heat. Conventional boilers will only convert 72% demonstrating how much fuel is wasted by old boilers – a waste that is visible on your gas bill.
“A” rated boilers can be found in all shapes and sizes and you will find they are generally much smaller than old models. Compact boilers are now small and neat enough to fit discretely into a kitchen cupboard and these are more than capable of providing heat and hot water for an average four bedroom family home. Larger boilers capable of heating much larger spaces are of course available offering equally as impressive energy efficiency savings.
